Persistence

QPE has two intentionally separate persistence systems.

Experiment documents — JSON schema 28

ExperimentDocument2D is the durable experiment format. It serializes the simulation configuration/control state required to reproduce a saved experiment. The release remains on schema 28; Step 59 changes comments and documentation only and does not alter the schema.

The parser validates document structure instead of silently accepting an empty control set. Schema-specific regression fixtures therefore construct complete valid documents before testing specialized fields.

A consolidation runtime pass performs a serialize -> parse -> apply -> recapture round trip for every guided preset.

GUI state — QSettings

Window geometry, dock state and a small set of view selections are user preferences and are not part of experiment JSON. They live under the Officina Turini / Quantum Phenomena Explorer QSettings identity. Keeping these two persistence concerns separate prevents a saved physics experiment from silently changing another user's desktop arrangement.
